Although the level of statistical significance is generally low, mean temperature changes of 1-2℃ are seen after solar proton events; these include transient warming in the lower stratosphere and cooling in the troposphere. The most significant temperature changes appeared during the East phase of quasi biennial oscillation (QBO\u003c0). The presence of a weak correlation with the phase southern oscillation index (SOI) is also suggested.
