Although the level of statistical significance is generally low, mean temperature changes of 1-2℃ are seen after solar proton events; these include transient warming in the lower stratosphere and cooling in the troposphere. The most significant temperature changes appeared during the East phase of quasi biennial oscillation (QBO<0). The presence of a weak correlation with the phase southern oscillation index (SOI) is also suggested.
