It is shown that the altitude distribution of the substorm westward electrojet changes quite dynamically, depending on the electrojet phases and also on local time. The altitude at which the current density and the Hall conductivity are maximized in morning hours is lower than that at midnight, indicating that energies of precipitating electrons are relatively high in the morning sector.
