Low latitude geomagnetic micropulsations have been observed at ASO (22°N, 198°E in geomagnetic coordinate) by use of a superconducting magnetometer, and signals in the period range from 50 to 120 s (Pi 2 and Pc 4) were analyzed in comparison with the ionospheric sounding data. It is found that the increment of the D component of the pulsations appears coincident with the E layer ionization enhancement, and at the same time there appears a change of polarization ellipticity from linear to elliptical. It is suggested that the polarization change is attributable to the coupling of the H- and the D-components by the Hall current in the E layer.
