Bubble formation experiments were conducted for snow composed of ice spheres 303μm in diameter at various temperatures and applied pressures. By measuring volumes of closed-off bubbles at various densities, the bubble formation density (ρ_f) and the bubble close-off density (ρ_c) were obtained. ρ_f, that is the density at which bubble formation begins, decreased with lowering temperature or pressure. On the other hand, ρ_c, that is the density at which bubble formation finishes, increased with lowering temperature or pressure.
