Trace element geochemistry of basic metamorphic rocks around Syowa Station and the adjacent areas is presented. The rocks have a wide range of bulk chemical composition. As migration of some major elements such as K_2O is considerable during high-grade metamorphism, the estimation of original rock series is difficult. Trace element chemistry shows migration of some incompatible elements such as K, Ba and F. The MORB and primordial mantle normalized patterns of less incompatible elements show that most of the rocks have the nature similar to MORB and that a discordant dyke intruded after the regional metamorphism is similar to those of within-plate basalts and/or continental alkali basalts.
